Shop Shots....
For those people that would like to see what a quarter midget is like before you see it on track. We thought this would give you a very good idea of what these cars are like. |
|
Bare Chassis
To most people this just looks like a mess of tubing welded togather. This is the bare chassis of Angelica's Black Sheep Racing 39
|
Right Rear
Here's the right rear suspension, the r/r shock is a coil over type which most quarter midgets are. The shock is attached to the r/r birdcage or bearing carrier you can see the rear axle pass though the birdcage also the r/r hub.The rear radius rods also are attached to the birdcage and run to the chassis. The only brake on the car is located here also but is hidden by the shock in this picture. Also take note of how far the right side of the car is offset. |

Left Rear
Here's the left rear suspension, you see the l/r birdcage also the upper and lower radius rods going to the frame. The sprocket on the axle is for the chain these are changed for diffrent track sizes. The cars are also direct drive like midgets or sprintcars, the collar to the left of the sprocket is used to keep the axle locked. The rod running off the birdcage to the right side of the car is the rear panhard bar, it centers the rear axle in the car. |
Pretty easy one here, gas on the right...brakes on the left... Lots of pedal adjustments for growing kids also.. |

Jelly's office.
As you can see Jellys pretty snug in here. A Kirkey highback racing seat along with a rightside headrest keeps her safe. We also use a G-Force 5-point safey harness, which includes shoulder belts, lap belts and a anti sub belt. With these items and also a fullface racing helmet, racing suit, and arm restraints she's very safe in the car.
|
Front suspension
Lots of things up here, first the front axle, you can also see both front shocks. The front axle has 2 radius rods on the right side but only 1 on the left. The steering rods run from the center post out to the front steering arms/ spindle asm. The front panhard bar runs from the right of the chassis to the left side of the axle. |

Heres the car minus its left side body panels. You can now see just 1 l/s radius rod, and how the l/f shock is almost inside the chassis this is because of he offset used in quarter midgets today. The cars also use a downtube style chassis where the tubes run from the front of the rollcage down to the front of the car. All quarter midgets have downtube chassis today for safety, it adds strengh and also keeps cars from hitting the cage incase of a bad impact. |
We hoped you like your tour of Jellys car and that it helped you understand quarter midgets a little more. Thanks for stopping by. |
